Power Tower (For America) 2012
Pine rips, rigid insulation, box fan, incandescent light bulbs, gear motor, stair banister rail, plexiglass, formica coffee table top, low-lounge vinyl seat cushions.
120 x 65 x 56 in.

"Power Tower (For America)" was conceived as a kinetic sign post for Flux Factory's "Banquet for America", an event that included international cuisine, feminist karaoke, puppeteers and homemade donuts amongst other extravagances.

The piece, made entirely of re-purposed materials, incorporates the skewed titles of individual attractions and presents them as arrows in constant rotation. The revolving motion of the piece and its seemingly ramshackle construction make direct allusions to the shifting and mutable nature of shared cultural identity.
